#3: Mega Victreebel
Flycatcher Pokémon, Grass/Poison, 276.7 lbs, 14'9"
"The energy of Mega Evolution has produced such a large amount of acid within Mega Victreebel’s body that it has to wrap up its own throat to prevent the acid from spilling out. As a result, it doesn’t keep its mouth open while waiting for prey like Victreebel does. Instead, it actively goes after prey to take it down in a distinctively aggressive style. Its massive body can deliver tackles that are packed with destructive force!
When all that acid has matured, it smells sweet enough to make others dizzy. Mega Victreebel waves the leaves on top of its head to waft the scent toward opponents, immobilizing them and giving it an edge in battle. The acid’s melting capabilities are also powered up. It can even melt through concrete or steel, so Trainers who use Mega Victreebel in battle will need to keep that in mind."
This is my (current) least favorite design, and I think you can tell why. I like the concept of this design, but I just really don't like the design. It is a huge deviation from the original design, which I think is a missed opportunity. I also don't like how hidden the eyes on this one are, but that's more of a personal thing.
#2: Mega Dragonite
Dragon Pokémon, Dragon/Flying, 639.3 lbs, 7'3"
"Mega Dragonite has distinctive Dragonair-like features, such as a pearl on its tail and wings on its head that act as feelers. Thanks to Mega Evolution, Dragonite can now fly faster and farther than before.
For Mega Dragonite, ending a Pokémon match quickly is an act of kindness toward its opponent. Its kindhearted nature gets amplified when it Mega Evolves, and it launches powerful attacks at its opponent with a smile. At the same time, if it senses someone in trouble, it has the kindness to instantly rush to their aid—even if it’s in the middle of an intense battle."
This was the first Mega revealed, and I think they started off pretty strong. This design takes inspiration from Dragonair, and I really like how they did it. I think Dragonite looks great here, and I really like the wings on top. This design is great, but I feel like they could've made a more fierce design for the "Dragon" Pokémon.
#1: Mega Hawlucha
Wrestling Pokémon, Fighting/Flying, 55.1 lbs, 3'3"
"It uses its muscles, bulked up by Mega Evolution, to take hit after hit from opponents’ moves and flex its own strength. After luring its opponent into attacking, it retaliates to make them flinch before diving at them using its signature move, Flying Press, to aim for victory.
Before Mega Evolving, Hawlucha would sometimes let its guard down as it became caught up in parading its flashy moves, but with newfound confidence in its own defensive capabilities, it can now show off again and again to both its opponent and its Trainer. It lifts both hands and spreads its wings, constantly putting its beauty and tough pectoral muscles on full display."
This one is amazing. Hawlucha definitely deserved a new form, and I don't think I could've asked for anything better. The wrestling theme fits Hawlucha perfectly, and I think the design is just awesome. The gold compliments Hawlucha so well, and I can't wait to battle with this Mega.
